The Story

Portrait of a song is the story of Alex, a middle-aged freelance graphic designer who designs covers for music labels. He lives with a condition of chromesthesia (sound to colour Synesthesia) that helps in his designs.

In an accident (electric shock), Alex loses his chromesthesia and then is unable to cope with his life. Since his condition helped him with his work, he now feels disabled and falls into depression. His wife Emily, at first does not acknowledge that Alex has any problem. It is only later that she begins to understand her husband and the story unfolds by delving into their relationship further.

The film integrates music and colour heavily from the beginning till the end to virtually depict Alex’s chromesthesia. It is this integration that makes the film an art-house drama.
